Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko’s daughter Saumu Mbuvi and her boyfriend Benson Gatu have been grabbing headlines lately.
A few days ago, the two left tongues
wagging after arriving at a political rally hosted by Kigumo MP Jamleck
Kamau in a helicopter.
Sections of the media had earlier reported that the relationship between Saumu and Gatu had Sonko’s approval.
It was also reported that he had taken
the 25-year-old lawyer as his protége to teach him a few things as he
eyes the Mathioya parliamentary seat in next year’s general election.
But apparently, all is not as rosy as it seems.
A source who preferred to remain
anonymous told us that Sonko called him today morning in regards to a
story appearing on Pulse magazine.
He said the Senator was infuriated that
a local daily was giving publicity to a person he describes as ”someone
who wants to joyride on the Sonko name to gain political mileage”.
Before hanging up, he told our source
to warn other politicians not to be fooled by men who pretend that they
want to settle down with their daughters.
‘I am very bitter about this and advise other leaders not to allow
their daughters or family members to fall into this trap,” Sonko said.
His statement has left me wondering what Gatu did to annoy the usually jolly Senator but I don’t want to speculate.
