Mombasa Businessman ordered to pay his wife Sh10 trapping her in sexless marriage

A Mombasa-based businessman has been ordered by a judge to pay his wife Sh10 million for luring her into a sexless marriage.
Patel married his wife Sonia in 1995 at the Arya Samaj, Vithalbhai Patel Road, Kakad Wadi, Bombay, India according to Indian marriage customs and they moved to Mombasa where they continued living well despite Partel’s impotence.

According to Sonia, the husband didnt tell her of the impotence before marriage and she felt bad but couldn’t go anywhere since she was trapped in marriage.
Patel on the other hand told the court that Sonia told everybody about his impotence which made him embarrassed and was not able to engage in sex anymore.
Rulling on the case, Justice Maureen Odero found that that Sonia was lured into the marriage on false pretense, and was brought into a foreign country only to be turned into a house help.
“I find that this act of deception by the man was cruel in the extreme. It condemned the innocent woman to a life devoid of sexual intimacy and children which is the desire of any woman in a marriage,” Odero ruled.
