Less than eight months after they tied the knot, Wahiga Mwaura and Joyce Omondi were forced to spend weeks apart after the former was sent to cover the 2016 Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
To make matters worse, the Citizen TV journalist was harassed by the dreaded Brazil military police while on assignment.
This was after a taxi driver opted to use a shortcut through a dangerous ghetto area while chauffeuring him and his crew back to their hotel room.
Wahiga and his crew were stopped on suspicion that they could be members of a gang who are working together with the taxi driver. They were later allowed to proceed after being asked a few questions.
As such, one would easily understand why the award-winning gospel singer was head over heels when her husband returned safely from Rio de Janeiro.
In an Instagram post, Joyce expressed her delight at the fact that she and Wahiga were back together in the same continent, same country, and same house after spending 40 days away from each other.
She was also happy that he was safe and unharmed.
